Centenary Connection to Author
In 1951 Centenary sponsored a Latvian refugee family's move to Beatrice. Now one of the sons, Raimonds Zvirbulis, will return to Beatrice to present an author program at the Public Library.  His lifelong dream of paddling the Yukon River began in Beatrice after listening to the radio adventures of Sgt. Preston and Yukon King, his dog.  Paddle 'til Dark is Raimonds' account of paddling a kayak 2,000 miles on the Yukon River.
