Purpose:

The primary purpose of the Church History Team is to document the Church's historical identity by keeping records in an orderly fashion, so that the past may be preserved, and we can build on this heritage.  To do this, it is important that the working teams and committees see that minutes and records of events of their work areas are forwarded to the church office or the History Team so they can be placed on file.  Without this information, the on-going work of the church will be lost.

Responsibilities:

The History Team feels it is important to keep events and people of the past available for the church members to read about and to appreciate what has been assembled and placed in the church library for all to see.  It will be important to keep these up-dated, year to year.

When appropriate, the Team has provided displays of artifacts to let the congregation know of some of the things that are stored in the History Room.

We have been a regular contributor to the church newsletter....The Signal, giving brief "Did You Know?" articles.

Heritage Sunday, usually in April, is a time that the 50 and 75-year members are honored with a pin and a certificate, and thanked for their dedication to their church.

In June 2008, a "Coffee on the Green" was held after each service to encourage the church members to enter and exit by way of the Tower Entrance on the west side of the building.  It was so well received that members asked that it be done again.  And so it will.

The Chairperson of the History Team is a member of the Administrative Council, and regular attendance is expected.

The History Team meets each month throughout the calendar year.

The History Team has been called on a number of times to research information for former members:  births, deaths, baptisms, which is another reason why we need good records.
