Centenary is fortunate to have endowments that have been given to the church for scholarships for High School Seniors, College and Seminary Students.

1)  HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP

 

 APPLICATION INFORMATION

 There are several scholarships available for high school seniors through the Centenary United Methodist Church Scholarship Committee. 

  1. A general scholarship award.
  2. The Opal Shum scholarship.

 

You may make application by filling out a form available at the church office OR you may fill out the application from the Beatrice High School Student Services website at www.beatricepublicschools.org .  Access that website then go to the Beatrice High School tab and the Student Services site on that page.  The scholarships may be accessed on-line and filled out by computer.

  

 

2)  GRANT FOR SEMINARY STUDENTS

 

INFORMATION FOR APPLICANTS

 Centenary United Methodist Church annually awards scholarship grants to seminary students who are preparing to serve in full-time church work.  Grants are available for periods of up to one year.  Students may re-apply each year.

  

The grant procedures are as follows: 

  1. Applications must be received by Centenary United Methodist Church, 608 Elk Street, Beatrice, NE  68310-2991, no later than July 15 each year.  Click here for application.
  2. Grant recipients and amounts awarded will be determined by the Scholarship Committee of Centenary United Methodist Church.
  3. Recipients will be notified of the Scholarship Committee decision on or about August 15.
  4. Grant recipients must submit proof of enrollment in seminary before grant payment will be issued.
  5. One-year grants will be divided per school term/semester.  The recipient must submit proof of academic good standing and re-enrollment after first term to receive the remainder of the grant.  Grants will be paid directly to the student.

  

 

3)  MULIG SCHOLARSHIP FUND 

 

The Mulig Scholarship was created to be used for local member only, for seminary or the college of their choice.  Applicants must have the desire to further their education and be in need of financial aid.  The final decision for the scholarship award shall be made by the Scholarship Committee of Centenary United Methodist Church.  Maximum awards shall be $10,000; $2500 per year; $1250 per semester.  Awards will be based on availability of funds.  Renewal of the scholarship will be based on applicant maintaining a 3.0 grade point average based on a 4.0 scale.  Applicant must attend college on a full time basis, taking twelve (12) or more hours per semester.  If applicant fails to meet these requirements, the scholarship award may be distributed to an alternate selected by the Scholarship Committee.

 

Application for these funds should be made using any of the appropriate available forms.  You are applying for the money merely by filling out any of the above forms.  (You only need to fill out one of these forms once to be considered also for this scholarship.)

4)  POST-HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP FUND

 

One-year grants are available for Centenary United Methodist members attending institutions of higher learning.  Students may reapply each year.

 

In February 1998 the Ad Council approved a motion that post high school scholarships be restricted to undergraduate studies, not over five years.

 

The grant procedures are as follows: 

  1. Applications must be received by Centenary United Methodist Church, 608 Elk Street, Beatrice, NE  68310-2991, no later than July 15 each year.  Click here for application.
  2. First-time applications must include transcript from previous school.  Renewal applications must include evidence of satisfactory progress (transcript or grade report).
  3. Grant recipients and amounts awarded will be determined by the Scholarship Committee of Centenary United Methodist Church.
  4. Recipients will be notified of the Scholarship Committee decision.
  5. Grant recipients must submit proof of enrollment in college or vocational school before grant payment will be issued.
