Coffees include flavored, decaf, a variety of roasts and whole beans. There are several kinds of tea, 7 different chocolate bars, baking chocolate, hot cocoa mix and other coffee related items. Because the UMW orders by the case, no shipping charges are added in the cost. We sell Equal Exchange products as a justice-related project rather than as a fund-raiser.

What is Equal Exchange?

Equal Exchange, a co-op founded in 1986, started with an idea: What if food could be traded in a way that is honest and fair, a way that empowers both farmers and consumers? What if trade supported family farms that use organic methods, rather than industrialized agribusinesses that rely on harmful chemicals?

The co-op helps farmers in some of the poorest countries in Latin America, Africa and Asia to build better lives for themselves and their families. Through Equal Exchange, farmers earn a fair price for their products, have access to affordable credit and have a trading partner they can trust. Farmers are encouraged to use sustainable farming methods, and many of the products are organically grown.  100% of the products are fairly traded.

The Equal Exchange - UMCOR Partnership

In addition, Equal Exchange partners with the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), linking congregations with small farmers and their families through fair trade. For every pound of fairly traded products United Methodists order through the UMCOR Coffee Project, Equal Exchange makes a donation to the UMCOR Small Farmer Fund, which assists family farmers in the global south.
