MISSIONAL BUDGET for 2010

.

At Centenary United Methodist Church, we are constructing a bold plan of ministry to continue our mission goals of:

  • Systematic Faith Development,
  • Risk-Taking Missions and
  • Radical Hospitality.

We cannot reach these goals alone. We are part of the connectional United Methodist Church. We celebrate our past year, but we must commit ourselves to making more disciples for Christ. We want you to join us in this journey to bring God to the people of Beatrice, Gage County, Nebraska and the world.

.

OUR PLAN of MINISTRY

.

Provide Systematic Faith Development

  • We plan to continue to offer adult special study classes. We were not able to deliver the Dave Ramsey Financial Peace classes as planned in 2009, but still see a need to offer that education.
  • We will encourage participation in spiritual retreats.
  • Our youngest ages of children will grow in their faith through their Sunday School classes as we teach and love them in our midst.
  • The Godparent groups and Middle School Youth Fellowship will continue to be active. A Kids for Christ ministry started in the fall of 2009 and will be continued into 2010.
  • Our new part-time Youth Director coordinates activities for children and fund-raisers for the youth mission trips.
  • Two new programs are being offered through the Nebraska Annual Conference, L3 and ReThink Church. Pastoral and lay leadership have explored these programs and believe they will provide Centenary with opportunities for spiritual growth and action plans for ministry.

Participate in Risk-Taking Missions

  • The signed basketball will be auctioned on eBay to raise funds for the Mission of Centenary. We still hope to hold a basketball challenge between adults and youth of the church to raise money for that goal.
  • We will continue to collect our Nickels for Nigeria. One Sunday each month, the pastors will share a short biolgraphy about a child at t eh orphanage in Nigeria during the Children's Sermon time. Our children's tie to this mission will be encouraged by having them collect change from the congregation one Sunday each month.
  • We will also send our young people on work mission trips. It will be a joint trip of both middle and high school students because the students themselves did not want to miss a year in an alternating format.
  • Adults have expressed an interest in their own mission trip, perhaps to the Midwest Distrivution Center or Sager-Brown.
  • The poor in Beatrice will not be ignored as we gather food, hats, mittens, and other clothing to share. We will continue to work in cooperation with other churches in Beatrice to multiply all of our efforts..

Practice Radical Hospitality

  • In 2010 the Outreach team will continue to serve Warren's Table meals.
  • We will sponsor a Cuib Scout troop and host other community organizations.
  • We will provide training for our ushers and greeters in welcoming people to worship services.
  • We will continue to record the history of all of our events so those new to our congregation can understand the hard work done before us.
  • Another "Coffee on the Green" will be held.
  • Our building is a large part of our hospitality, so we will work on upgrading the north entrance and repair and remodel our bathrooms.
  • The Administrative Council will continue the fund-raising efforts to complete paying for the loans we owe on our heating/air conditioning system.
  • United Methodist Women members will reach out to invite women to circles.
  • Outreach to students currently not attending worship services, Sunday School and Godparent groups will continue.
  • A goal of updating sound and video equipment will provide a more modern experience for youth in Sunday School as well as providing better hearing and visuals for worship.
  • The Web Team will keep the web site current, attractive and useful.
